Doris Lane Butler was an American illustrator who created several stylish paper doll books for Whitman Publishing Company in the early 1940s, often featuring groups of modern young women and fashion-focused themes. Her Whitman work includes titles such as Bobby Socks, Career Girls, and several “three sisters”–type sets, as well as coloring books for movie stars like Betty Grable, Dinah Shore, and Lana Turner.
